HSTA Relaxation Study. 

Dear Participant,


This study is testing whether using stress-coping guides can help with stress, and whether stress is different in males vs. females, and in people with different personality traits related to forgiveness, and tendency to think alot about the past. In this study, you will download an app to your iPhone or Android that will play some audio and video files with stress-coping exercises. The audio files are from 30 sec to 5 minutes long, and they have a couple questions about stress level to be anwered right after listening. You will be asked to fill out four surveys at the beginning and the end of the study that are at the bottom of this page (you can read them ahead of time if you'd like).


The surveys will be anonymous so the HSTA students cannot tell that the data came from you. In the survey, we will ask your age, your gender, what your biggest source of stress is (school work, other people, health, other) and some questions about stress levels, forgiveness, and compassion. The surveys should take about 15-20 minutes to complete.The study does not offer any direct benefit to you, except that you might experience some stress relief and you get to keep the app if you like it.


We are testing whether it can help others in the future deal with stress, and there are no risks to the study. Even if you start the study, you are free to stop anytime if you don't like it, and it won't effect your grade in any way.


For the surveys, read each question carefully; there is neither a right or wrong answer to any question. If you are unable to answer a question, leave the blank empty. You do not have to answer all the questions, and it is totally up to you whether you want to participate in the study.
